CITADELS DeepTech TestBeds Catalogue
The CITADELS DeepTech TestBeds are practical spaces where advanced technologies can be explored, tested, demonstrated, and further developed. They bring together the research infrastructure, equipment, software, data, technical know-how and people needed to support experimentation in human-centric Industry 5.0.
Through this catalogue, CITADELS makes visible a growing collection of TestBeds hosted by project partners across Europe. The TestBeds cover areas such as collaborative robotics, extended reality, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, human-machine interaction, additive manufacturing, sensing, diagnostics, simulation, digital platforms, cybersecurity, blockchain, and data-driven decision support. Together, they offer a concrete entry point for researchers, students, companies, SMEs, startups, and innovation actors who want to work with DeepTech in realistic research and industrial contexts.
Each TestBed is described in a common format so that visitors can quickly understand what it offers, who hosts it, which technologies it includes, what kind of access is possible, and how it can be used. The descriptions include application cases, potential users, technical components, software, or datasets where available, relevant standards, safety considerations, and ethical or societal aspects. This helps transform different laboratories and infrastructures into a more accessible and understandable European resource.
For academia, the TestBeds can support research, education, student projects, theses, publications, open repositories, and new project ideas. For industry, they can support Proof-of-Concept activities, technology validation, pilot testing, benchmarking, training, and DeepTech Deployment actions. For the wider ecosystem, they create opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and more effective use of existing public R&I infrastructure.
The catalogue is also a key part of the CITADELS mission: to strengthen academia-industry collaboration, improve access to cutting-edge infrastructure, support talent development, and promote human-centric DeepTech solutions in widening countries and beyond. By opening these TestBeds to new users and collaborations, CITADELS aims to turn advanced research capacity into practical impact for industry, society, and the future of work.
